Cate Kelly

CateMade Artist & Owner

CateMade was born from the desire to share that sense of connection—between beauty and meaning, creation and Creator, art and story. My faith shapes everything I create, grounding me in gratitude and reminding me that art is a way to reflect God’s beauty back into the world. Each collection begins with something that stirs my soul: the changing seasons, the grace of magnolia blooms, the songs that mark a moment in time. My work is grounded in nature and alive with story, offering quiet reminders of what is good, true, and enduring.

I grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, in a family where creativity and faith were both constants. My grandmother was a painter, my mother a musician, and our home was filled with both music and making. I learned early that art isn’t just something you do; it’s a way of living with gratitude. I carried that belief into adulthood, painting whenever I could, often with music playing in the background or my guitar nearby. Both have always been languages of expression for me—one with color, one with sound.

I studied art at the University of Mississippi before completing my Bachelor of Arts in Art Education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Those years deepened not only my technical skills but also my belief that art connects what we feel to what we can see and touch. It gives form to gratitude, awe, and story.

Before CateMade came to life, I spent more than a decade teaching art to children, helping them find their own creative voices. Those classroom years were full of color, laughter, and lessons that have stayed with me. Teaching taught me how to let go of perfection, how to experiment freely, and how to see the world with wonder again. In many ways, it was in those young artists’ hands that I rediscovered my own.

Through CateMade, I hope to create art that invites others to pause, breathe, and remember what grounds them. Art that reflects the beauty of the world around us and the One who made it. Every piece carries a story, and together they tell mine: one rooted in gratitude, faith, and a deep love for the creative life.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve seen the world in color: in the blush of magnolia petals, in sunlight spilling across a table, in the quiet moments that hold more meaning than they seem. Painting became the way I listen to those moments and share what they’re saying.
